electroniclady 1980 REDUX is my favorite Alien Skin album EVER! I luv the retro-come-now vibe of the songs. It does transport me back to the era but I still feel I am here now & glad to be to keep hitting the repeat button. Every song's a winner, a total exciting package that I play right through, no skips. Favorite track: 1980 You were a boy.

xtm301 This is a musical journey and the listener is the honor guest. The destination is a very important period of time in the life of the author. The soundscape is beautifully crafted with analogue synthesizers and drum machines. Each song tells a story. If you take the time to read the booklet, you will find deeper meaning for each song. Thank you very much Mr. George for this excellent Alien Skin album. Favorite track: Walk on Water.

I Am Adam 03:54
From a hut slight above the skyline a graceless hovel balanced on a hill And barely hid from the township, he scans for safer ground The son of Prometheus scours a godforsaken underwood below A forest so impervious it feels hermitic enough to safely be obscured within And high from his vantage he reads it like a cipher Unraveling knowledge of its landscape, its paths its retreats its shelter its hope Seeking all but escape from much misery and wanton hate I am Adam of your labours I am Adam I am Adam of your labours I am Adam The pursuit of compassion and human acceptance became a miserable, unsated hunger and thirst He, being born not of mother but graveyard remains His maker the earnest pupil harboured an obsession to equal or better his venerated mentors But this godforsaken obsession transformed into repulsion, abhorrence and loathing Upon the mere sight of his wretched creature issuing breath Rendering him physically infirm I am Adam of your labours I am Adam I am Adam of your labours I am Adam I am Adam I am Adam A countenance so wretched he shuns the morning's sunburst I am Adam of your labours I am Adam

THE BERLIN TRILOGY There was Cassie Cassette and Sally Solina and Ems VCS All three shared the same West Berlin address It was cold it was damp they took coffees they took teas And whatever you please bang in the middle of the 1970s Psyched and wide eyed in Berlin they loved Kraftwerk they loved Pop Each could dance till they dropped in the counter culture underground Taking coffees taking teas taking whatever you please speeding fast in the 1970s Cassie loved to chronicle their thoughts to record all their pluses all their naughts Sally and EMS loved the noise, loved the pulse and the new wave boys Consuming liberally and on the move constantly Now over by the Wall were three artisans, striking yet pasty thin and tall They worked brightly at night in the subdued studio light The machines lured them to stay in Berlin we could all be heroes just for one day Stealing kisses trading rhymes they made for historic memorable times After a not by chance meeting near their let in a city wafting from kebab and Coal briquette the two threesomes disappeared down a Berlin alley EMS left with Brian, Cassie went with Tony and David was last photographed Crooning to Sally it was cold and still damp they took hot coffees they took hot teas And whatever you please smack in the middle of decade 70 They began construction of The Berlin Trilogy

Dark Star 04:40

about

======================================
"...there’s no denying the universal appeal of “Walk On Water” It’s an absolutely exceptional and stand-out moment on this record without a doubt…a real time-stopper and dream inducer that’s massively captivating to listen to. I don’t know that I’ve ever heard George sound THIS good – and keep in mind, I always enjoy what he brings to the microphone – but this…THIS…is straight-up award-winning. If I gave out medals, he’d get a gold here – I think he’s nailed every aspect of this song from start to finish and really brought out the best of his melodic and tender side for this tune…and these results absolutely sparkle & shine like the purest of gems." Sleeping Bag Studios magazine

"...there aren’t many synth-pop bands that I deem buyable today. I could probably count them all on my left hand. And if I only included the bands that actually played authentic 80’s analogue-driven synth-pop, I’d probably be left counting my stiff middle finger. But Alien Skin takes his synth-pop to a different set of limits, as he is not looking to create a revival or appear as a retro hipster. It’s not just flattery, or merely a homage meant to evoke the sounds of the past. He is simply following his heart, and after one listen the true beauty of what he can create is breathtaking." Jamsphere magazine
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"...‘Atoms Dangling Endlessly’ is another high point for the record, proving that Alien Skin’s most long-form musings prove to be capable of being completely enthralling. The world that ‘Atoms Dangling Endlessly’ creates is stunning, slowly growing and building around the listener as Pappas’ synthesizers continually expand. On tracks like ‘Atoms Dangling Endlessly,’ Pappas’ Eno inspiration is abundantly obvious." Independent Spotlight Chicago

"...the supremely atmospheric and gripping Dark Star provides the ultimate few moments of audio. There’s no beat at first, and you notice this – the pace has been fairly heavy throughout the collection, in comparison to the artist’s previous projects at least. This final song offers a reflective expression of ideas, by means of a simple wash of sounds, soon expanding into a down-tempo, retro EDM piece, which surrounds and satisfies in the way that any dream-like or soothing trip-hop track might." Stereo Stickman magazine
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"...an early highlight on 1980 Redux for those that are looking for something with a bit more of a danceable idea or something that you can sing along to; I’m not saying that George played this one straightforward from points A to B, but I am saying that “This Fantastic Voyage” likely stands a great chance of being a hit with those that listen. Great melody in this music and in his vocal-tones, solid movement in the structure of the song that keeps it compelling…I wouldn’t say call up MTV and necessarily get the video ready, but I think you get what I mean. There’s a more widespread appeal in an electro-melody like “This Fantastic Voyage” that people will quickly pick up on…that’s what I’m saying". Sleeping Bag Studios magazine
